Halo 3 Gold And Silver Skull Locations

Gold skulls unlock Achievements, Silver skulls help get armor. To find any skull you must start from the beginning of the level on normal or higher difficulty, you do not have to finish the level to unlock the skull. (Except for the IWHBYD skull) Some levels may have more than one skull to unlock.

Gold Skulls

Iron Skull
When you die in co-op you restart from last checkpoint,when both die restart level.

Location: Sierra 117
When you get to the jail that sarge is located in behind it you will notice a ledge, go to the far right and jump on some boxes then jump on to the pipes which get you to the ledge follow it till you come to a dead end and the skull is at the end.

Black Eye Skull
Shields can't recharge except by punching. (Melee hit)

Location: Crows Nest
As soon as you start the level, go to door leading to the barracks and turn around, walking to the green rack jump on top of it, look up and to the right at the red beam and jump on it. Look to the right and jump on the bigger black colored pipe walking to the end of it at which the skull is located.

Tough Luck Skull
Aliens from hell, all enemies get spider-man like dodging abilities, are more fierce and unpredictable.

Location: Tsavo Highway
When you come across a highway for the first time (A covenant gunship will fly overhead) get under the bridge and go left to its supports. Jump on to the farthest left one and you will see the skull on a cliff ledge, jump over on to the ledge to get the skull .

Catch Skull
Grenades are thrown more often.

Location: The Storm
To get this skull you must have beaten the level on normal already.
The skull is located on the silo in the area where you first come out with the wraiths and ghosts. You can stack a vehicle up against the silo or grenade jump onto the silo, but there are a number of other ways for get the skull. (If you destroy the normal wraith before you get the skull, the skull will disappear and you will have to start the level over)

Fog Skull
You have no motion sensor.

Location: Floodgate
This skull is located at the very beginning of the level. Walk (or skip if you like) back to the building/city area, before you make it to the buildings you will get a checkpoint, immediately look up and to the right toward the buildings roof. On the rooftop you will see a lone flood figure kill him (timing it just right) after he jumps, shoot too soon and the skull will stay on the roof, shoot to late and you won't kill him in time. Watch where it falls then grab the skull.

Famine Skull
Dropped weapons have only half of the ammo they normally would.

Location: The Ark
Right after you pass the wreaked phantom there will be a fork in the road, left leads to a bowl like valley, right and you will see a passage with some ghosts, go right. This is the tricky part, steal (or permanently borrow if its easier for your conscience) the ghosts and pilot them on top of the bridge. To get the ghosts on the bridge find the big boulder located right before the bridge and drive up the cliff, drive the ghost up the cliff wall holding the boost the whole time till you get on the bridge. Stack the two ghosts next to the beam with the skull on top of each other, get on the top of the ghosts and jump on the beam with the skull.

Thunderstorm Skull
Enemies are maxed out for rank (Tougher to kill)

Location: The Covenant
There are three towers in this level that will need to be disabled to complete the level, you take tower one the elites take tower two and Johnson takes tower three. After you take out tower one, you will be headed to tower three to take it down for Johnson. As soon as you get in the hornet fly on the way to tower three, halfway there to the left you'll see tower two (the elites have already disabled it) land the hornet on top of the tower, the skull is not inside the building but outside up the staircase. On another note go inside the building if you want to get the terminal. (see "How To Unlock Achievements")

Tilt Skull
Makes enemy resistance greater

Location: Cortana
The skull is at the top of the large circular room where Cortana is screaming for help. When you enter this room you will fall out of a hole in the ceiling, next to a sitting, dead elite. To the left of the room will be some small, somewhat fungal, growths on the walls. Near this is a rounded pillar. Stand on the pillar and jump to the thin growth outcrops to the left. On many of them you will hit your head on an obstruction above if you are not careful. After the first two to the left, turn around and look away from the rock wall, then left ninety degrees for another one with a longish extrusion of Flood material. Jump toward the other outcrop with the extension of flood material. Walk up the extruded Flood tentacle onto the roof of the area where you will find the Skull in a pile of blood and bones.

Mythic Skull
Enemies health is doubled.

Location: Halo
At the beginning of the level go up the hill in front of you into the cave, stay to the right side of the cave and after you pass a big boulder there will be a path to your right, it will be at the end of the path. (It might help to use your flash light)

Silver Skulls

Blind Skull
Your HUD display is disabled. (no sights, radar, etc....)

Location: Sierra 117
Right at the beginning of the level the first time you encounter enemies (look for a phantom), go straight and to the right all the way to a cliff like drop into some water, look for a rock sticking out over the water and jump onto it. The skull is on the rock.

Grunt Birthday Party Skull
Head shots on grunts cause confetti to appear. (this one is a fun one)

Location: Crows Nest
After you complete the first objective on your way back to the barracks, you'll fall down onto a pipe, walk to the end and drop again down below but as your dropping downward walk backwards and you'll land in an area with the skull.

Cowbell Skull
Bigger explosions.

Location: The Ark
Right after you defeat the scarab go into the building in the middle of th area you'll find a gravity lift get it and save it for later. Now head up the ramp and continue the mission. When you get to a room with a whole lot of explosive crates, following this room is a staircase/hallway leading to the level below. The skull is at the top of the room where you turn on the staircase to head to the next part of the slope, look up at the four platforms above, on the very top one is where the skulls at. Use the gravity lift to get up to it.

Hidden dialog in the game is now unlocked.

Location: The Covenant
After you defeat the Prophet of Truth look at the big halo rings, there are a total of seven. Jump through them in this order. (1 being at the beginning of the level and 7 being the one closest to the Prophet of Truth) 1,3,4,6,7,5,4,6,5,4,5,3,4,5,4,5,3,4. After that head back toward where you defeated Truth by the bridge to collect the skull. (This is one of the harder skulls to get because its such tedious work)
